Godzilla is a fictional monster, or kaiju, originating from a series of Japanese films of the same name. A towering, destructive, prehistoric bipedal lizard, Godzilla is known for terrorizing the streets of Tokyo, crushing anything that gets in his way. Some believe he is a metaphor for nuclear weapons or the United States, a slumbering beast taking its revenge on Japan. Whatever the giant monster represents, he has been present in both Japanese and American pop culture for generations.
I decided to combine imagery from both American and Japanese artworks and vintage movie posters, in order to create a vivid poster based on the iconic creature.
