Me and Tony Roberson collaborated and created an ad campaign for Vans, titled “Counter The Culture”, which identifies the stereotypical perceptions of skateboarding by the general public. The purpose of this project is to demonstrate how Vans has affected the public view of skateboarding. The advertisement’s placement, however, is important because the areas are where skateboarders and others interact together. Ranging from rural neighborhoods to luxurious nightlife cities, Vans has created a culture for everyone to enjoy. These pieces express the concerns of a teacher, a policeman, and a young African American mother. Me and Tony Roberson split the work 50/50. I was used as a model (the skater), and I also took part in photographing and photo-manipulating. Tony Roberson also took part in photography and photo-manipulating.
